Year 5s visit the ‘School of Rock’

Students from four local primary schools enjoyed a treat today when they attended a dress performance of School Of Rock: The Musical – The Next Generation. The show was performed by Hetton School students to over sixty local year 5 students.

Year 5 students from Easington Lane Primary School, East Rainton Primary School, Hetton Primary School and Hetton Lyons Primary School were treated to a half hour performance of the hit Broadway and West End musical, which included all singing, all dancing performances of, ‘You’re in the Band’, ‘Stick it to the Man’, ‘Time to play’ and ‘School of Rock’

The students enjoyed the show thoroughly, with many of the children (and even some of the teachers … we saw you Mrs Humphrey!) clapping and singing along to the songs. One year 5 student stated, “I loved the show because it was really well acted” Another told us she thought the show was, “Great!“ and added, “I can’t wait to come to Hetton School in Year 7!”

Mr Knowles, Hetton School’s Headteacher was delighted with the turn out by our local primary schools. “It is great that the Year 5s were able to come in and see some of the brilliant work of our students in the English, Media and Performing Arts Faculty. I hope it inspires them for the future. This is just one of many excellent whole school events that students at Hetton School are part of.”
