This week we have again been celebrating the success of our students in Year 7 and Year 8 who have successfully completed their Bronze Hetton Honours Award. 15 Year 7 students and 49 Year 8 students were awarded their certificates and pin badges in two very positive assemblies. The Hetton Honours scheme encourages our students to take advantage of the many extra-curricular activities that are on offer at Hetton School. They must gather evidence of how they have completed each of the seven sections of the award – Responsibility, Extra-curricular, School support, Peer support, Environmental, Community and School Trip. By achieving this award, our students have shown a wide range of skills and a real determination to succeed.
We were delighted to welcome our Chair of Governors, Councillor Wilkinson, and Mr. Keay, Head teacher, to the assemblies this week. Mr. Keay congratulated all of the students that have completed their bronze award and highlighted how important it is for students to take part in wider school life. Getting into college, university and finding a job is becoming increasingly competitive and by completing their Hetton Honours, these Year 7 and 8 students are putting themselves into a fantastic position to succeed in life after school. The challenge now is for these students to continue to take advantage of the wonderful opportunities at Hetton School and work towards their Silver and Gold Awards. Well done to all involved.
